Sankaracharya’s Arrest :Dalit Hindu Peoples’ Sabha Condemns

'Kanchi seer has to be released immediately. Arresting him at mid-night and throwing him into jail like an ordinary criminal is condemnable" said Dalit Hindu Makkal Sabha".

"Besides doing spiritual work. the Swamigal was carrying on the work of consolidation of the society, Education, and health .the arrest has been carried out just to put hurdles in this work and to tarnish the image of the Mutt. The other reasons are to appease the other religions the threats of the anti-Hindu parties".

"Arresting a Hindu religious leader on false charges ,arresting him at midnight and putting him in jail as an ordinary criminal has evoked the opposition of the entire Hindu community. Hence he should be released immediately. To show our opposition we had demonstrated twice under the leadership of our state leader Ganesh.

Human Chain To Protest Sankaracharya's Arrest

Demanding the release of the Kanchi Seer, human chain protests were organized in Chennai on at various places on 20.11.04

The state president of the BJP, Sri.C.P.Radhakrishnan presided over the protest at the Thirupathi Balaji temple at T.Nagar. Similar protests were held near Sri Parthasarathy tekmple at Thiruvallikkeni by Sri.Vedantham of VHP, near Sri Kapaleeswara temple, Mylapore by BJP MLA. K.N Lakshmanan and near the vadapalani Muruga temple by former union minister Thirunavukkarasar. Besides such protests were held at many other places in the city and the suburbs, In the suburbs the protests were led by BJP MLA Raja ,the president of the Kancheepuram district BJP, Sivaraman and VHP leader Narayanaswamy.

Similarly BJP organized a protest near the Kanchi Sankara Mutt .Leades of Hindu Munnani, RSS, and BJP yuva morcha leaders participated. They raised slogans like "Release Jayendrar and don't foist false cases'. (Courtesy:Dinamalr 21.11.04) interbanational vice-president

Mata Amritanadamayi Expresses Anguish At Seer's Arrest

"I am saddened by the arrest of Sri.Jayendra Saraswathi Swami" said Mata Amritanandamayi , a great Hindu spiritual leader.

In a release she has said that" It is very sad. It seems like a dream. The fact that the drama still continues, deepens the mental wounds .Great many Peetadhipathis during Sri Adi Sankara's time have been safeguarding the Vedas. No one should try to weaken this heritage. It is like mixing salt in the Milk of Gnana that has been given by the Vedas. There may be differences in the society. But we must forget them and for the sake of the Vedas and Adi Sankara we must unite. Otherwise the differences will widen and give rise to more problems." (Dinamalar;21.11.04)
