Nagpur: Urging for Centre's intervention, BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) President and former Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani today (Jan 14, 2005) reiterated his demand to shift cases pertaining to Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati, outside Tamil Nadu.

Advani, who arrived in Nagpur to participate in the two-day 'Chintan Baithak' of Sangh Parivar and discuss the strategy for launching and intensifying the agitation in protest against the arrest of Shankaracharya, was informally speaking to reporters.

The BJP President said that he, along with former President R Venkataraman and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, had met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh recently and urged the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) Government to intervene in the case.

"We told the Prime Minister that it is a question of sentiments of crores of Hindus, hurt by investigation being conducted with a vindictive attitude and the ill-treatment meted out to Jayendra Saraswati", he said.

Advani would discuss the issue with VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad) working President Ashok Singhal, its international General Secretary Praveen Togadia, former Union HRD Minister Murli Manohar Joshi and RSS (Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh) General Secretary Mohan Bhagwat, at the closed-door meeting, presided over by RSS chief K S Sudarshan, sources said.
