NAGPUR,JANUARY 15: Intensifying the stir against the arrest and alleged ill-treatment to the Senior Kanchi Seer and also the arrest of Junior Shankaracharya Vijayendra Saraswathi in Sankararaman murder case, BJP has launched its week-long nationwide protests. This decision was taken on the concluding session of the RSS Chintan Baithak yesterday. The party workers will hit the roads today to mark the protest. Yesterday, president L K Advani called for Centre’s intervention in Kanchi Seer Jayendra Saraswati`s case. He has also demanded that the case to be transferred to a court outside Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile, Kanchi Mutt on Thursday wrote to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh conveying its concern that “there had been and would definitely be a serious, unfortunate and unacceptable” disruption of the traditional poojas. “There will be disruption of the poojas offered to deities like Maha Tripura Sundarari and Chandra Mouliswara for over 2500 years causing anguish and spiritual pain to tens of thousands of devotees,” the Mutt said in its letter, a copy of which was released to the media on Thursday. The letter was meant to refute Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s claim that there will be no disruption of tradition at the mutt and put forth the mutt’s perspective. The letter has sought the Prime Minister’s immediate intervention in the matter. The mutt is reportedly facing financial crunch following freezing of its accounts.
