VHP to highlight powers of Hindus

Press Trust Of India, January 18, 2005

Indore, January 17: VHP would organize a religious programme in Tamil Nadu to protest the arrest of Kanchi Sankaracharyas.

The ‘dharmik anushthan’ will be organized from February 2-6 in the state, the national coordinator of Bajrang Dal, Prakash Sharma told reporters in Indore on Tuesday on the sidelines of ‘Hindu Swabhimaan Jagran Mahayagna’.

“Jayendra Saraswati was getting very popular in the south as he has recognized priests of all castes and has checked activities of Christian missionaries. In order to check him, at the behest of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Tamil Nadu police has arrested the seer”, Sharma alleged.

“It became more evident after the arrest of the junior seer soon after release of Jayendra Saraswati on bail that the state government is acting under the influence of ‘outside forces’ as part of an international conspiracy”, he said.

On constructing Ram temple at Ayodhya, Sharma said a decision would be taken at VHP’s ‘chintan shivir’ to be organized at Prayag (Allahabad) from February 8-13.

Sharma also said Bajrang Dal has set a target to enroll 20 lakhs youths till January 20 to check the threat on Hinduism and from November 20 to end December, 15 lakhs were enrolled.

Among these, five lakhs youths would be asked to carry ‘trishul’ while the rest would be trained on how to protect Hindu religion from the onslaught of foreign religions and culture, he said.

On ‘cultural policing’, especially on Valentine’s Day, Sharma said it was the moral duty of Bajrang Dal to check such celebrations, influenced by foreign culture.
