Video clippings manipulated says Kanchi Sr Seer

Thursday, January 13

Kancheepuram: Describing video clippings of his custodial interrogation as 'manipulated', Kanchi Seer Jayendra Saraswathi today (Jan 13, 2005) questioned the genuineness of the clippings "leaked" to some satellite Television Channels.

In a letter submitted on behalf of the Seer to the special police team, which is probing the cases against the Seer, Kanchi Mutt Advocate A Shanmugam said that the clippings were "manipulated as if my client made some admissions, thereby causing damage to his reputation and wounding the feelings of the devotees."

"The video recordings are manipulated and my client denies the same," he said in the letter.

In the clippings, screened by the channels, Jayendra Saraswathi was heard complaining that the junior Acharya Vijayendra Saraswathi was only concerned that he or his brother should not be arrested in the Sankararaman murder case and he had no regard for his 'Guru' (himself).

The Acharya was also heard saying in the excerpts that he had not asked that the temple official Sankararaman be beaten or stabbed and had also expressed anguish over the letters written by Sankararaman.
