Nagpur: Stepping up its offensive on Kanchi Sankaracharya issue by quite a few notches, the RSS on Friday announced that BJP would soon launch a countrywide agitation seeking ouster of the Jayalalithaa government in Tamil Nadu.

Briefing reporters after the two-day "Chintan Baithak" of the Sangh Parivar in Nagpur, which was attended by BJP chief L K Advani, RSS spokesman Ram Madhav said the saffron party’s agitation would be "Jaya Hatao".

Likening the action of the Tamil Nadu government against Jayendra Saraswathi to "those foreigners who ruled the country," he said Vishwa Hindu Parishad would also soon launch a nation-wide movement to protest the arrest of the Seer and alleged ill-treatment meted out to him by the Tamil Nadu Government.

"The Tamil Nadu Government is behaving more like a dictator and acting in a most undemocratic manner even after orders from the apex court to release the senior Seer," Madhav said.

The BJP has already announced that it will launch programmes from January 15 to protest the arrest of the Seer while VHP would be doing it soon, he said.

He said VHP will spearhead the agitation with BJP and other outfits of Sangh Parivar supporting it.

Madhav alleged "the total law and order situation in Tamil Nadu has collapsed and the people associated with Kanchi mutt are suffering."

He charged Tamil Nadu Government was acting vindictively and this was evident from the arrest of junior Sankaracharya Vijayendra Saraswathi.

"We are not sitting on judgement or merit of the case whether Seer committed any offence or not, the court of law will decide that but we are protesting against the highhandedness of Tamil Nadu Government, Madhav said.

The meeting presided by RSS chief K S Sudarshan was attended by VHP working President Ashok Singhal, VHP International General Secretary Praveen Togadia, former union HRD minister Murli Manohar Joshi, RSS general secretary Mohan Bhagwat, H V Sheshadri and other top functionaries of Sangh Parivar.

Madhav said besides Sankaracharya, the two-day meeting also took up the issue of atrocities on women and dalits besides growing caste divide.

"We are concerned over the growing fragmentation of Hindu society over caste line", he said.

Meanwhile, a copy of a letter written by Kanchi mutt manager to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on January 13 regarding the disruption of Chandramouliswarar pooja, which has been taking place uninterruptedly for last over 2500 years, was released to press on Friday.

In the letter, a copy of which was sent to VHP president Ashok Singhal, the mutt said with the "arrest of Sri Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamiji, unfortunately the pooja has been disrupted."

The letter also alleged that "the letter to Prime Minister from Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa is not based on facts.
